Webhost AIT has been sued by Fayetteville Publishing. Both Fayetteville-based Web hosting provider Advanced Internet Technologies and its chief executive, Clarence Briggs were named in the case, which concerns libel. The case claims that AIT presented false information that hurt their company’s performance.

Fayetteville Publishing’s lawsuit says the companies and executives damaged the paper’s reputation with false statements that the newspaper artificially inflated its Web site viewer and ad-click statistics in order to defraud advertisers. The suit says the defendants spread these statements with news releases and comments on the IGeryon and Click Defense Web sites and other Web sites to damage Fayetteville Publishing and promote products they developed.

Previously, AIT sued Fayetteville Publishing on a libel claim in September then dropped the suit in January.

Briggs says the truth will come to light. “The bottom line is you guys committed click-fraud and now you’re giving us the opportunity to prove it, so there must be a lot of worried people at FPC (Fayetteville Publishing),” Briggs said in response to the allegations.
